NCAA Division I Strategic Summit

Some Division I student-athletes had the unique opportunity to participate in the NCAA’s Division I Strategic Summit in Indianapolis on Aug. 4 and 5.

The student-athletes were joined by college presidents, athletic administrators, faculty representatives, and conference commissioners with the goal of the Summit to “…build the foundation for the future of college sports.”

Participants were scheduled to discuss and ultimately create principles to guide Division I decisions in the future.

Four strategic planning groups studied four different aspects of college sports.  The four areas of focus are:

  •  The Division I model of amateur athletics
  • How college sports should assist students while they are in college
  • How Division I should help students prepare for life after college, including those who want to pursue professional sports or Olympic competition
  • Examining the role of conferences and the current organizational structure of Division I

We are looking forward to the information that will be developed and shared by the participants of this Strategic Summit.
