OUR STORY AND MISSION
Informed Athlete helps student-athletes navigate the complex NCAA, NAIA, NJCAA, and CCCAA rules on issues related to Transfers, Waivers & Appeals, Eligibility Issues, Scholarship Strategies, and Recruiting Rules.
Our mission is to lessen the stress in the lives of student-athletes and their parents. We do this by providing accurate information, personal guidance, and high-quality resources so they can make informed decisions. Decisions made with up-to-date, accurate, and unbiased information provide the very best opportunity for a positive outcome – both academically and athletically.
The idea for Informed Athlete came to us in 2006 after many years of sitting in bleachers and traveling to watch our own son play baseball. Parents frequently approached Rick to ask his advice and answer NCAA rules and recruiting questions related to their sons and daughters. We realized we could combine our skills to help families and student-athletes navigate through their often confusing, complicated, and overwhelming situations.
We understand how it feels to walk in a parent’s shoes. We gained valuable first-hand experience and understanding when our son was recruited by a Big 12 institution and received an athletic and academic scholarship. He later went through the transfer process himself with an optimum outcome.
“I wish I’d known about INFORMED ATHLETE earlier.”
