Potential Change to NCAA DI Football Transfer Portal Window

Rather than having a 15-day Portal window in April in addition to the 30-day period after the end of the football season, the Committees are recommending that there be just one 30-day period beginning the Monday after the FBS conference championship games.

The Division I Council will meet in October to consider and vote on the recommendation.

As part of the rationale for the recommendations, the Committees believe that “…participation in spring football is typically seen as preparatory for the subsequent season; therefore, focusing on a fall notification-of-transfer window is expected to promote roster stability for student-athletes and their programs.”
