Will Your Freshman Student-Athlete Be Eligible to Play Their Sport?

We recently consulted with the parents of an NCAA Division II athlete who after arriving on campus this Fall learned he is not eligible to compete this Spring.

NCAA requires that all High school athletes must take and pass NCAA-approved core courses in high school to earn “Qualifier” status in order to compete as a college freshman.

In this case, this student-athlete ended up one-half academic credit short of being deemed an NCAA Qualifier. This error was missed during the recruiting process and not found until the school finished eligibility certifications after school had already begun and it was too late.

We are currently assisting the family with a waiver to try to gain eligibility for the athlete for this Spring.

Don’t let this situation happen to your athlete – We can help!

With a Freshman Transcript Review Service, we will discuss your athlete’s personal situation, answer any questions you have and:

  • Compare the courses completed with the courses approved by the NCAA Eligibility Center.
  • Determine whether your projected core course GPA will satisfy NCAA “Qualifier” requirements.
  • Provide a written assessment of the subjects that need to be completed to satisfy initial eligibility requirements.
  • Suggest steps and discuss a plan of action that may be available to satisfy eligibility requirements.

Schedule your confidential Freshman Transcript Review online or call us at 913-766-1235 or send an email to rick@informedathlete.com if you have questions about this process.

OR if your athlete has already started college and needs a Waiver to become eligible for this Spring, you can learn more and sign up for a confidential Waivers and Appeals consultation.
